Schedule for Friday, July 31
9:00 am – 9:20 am: Why Graduate School?
David Zeh, Ph.D., Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate School, will talk about the opportunities and benefits of attending graduate school.
9:20 am – 9:40 am: Applying to Graduate School
Kara Cleveland, Director of Graduate School Operations, will describe the various parts of a graduate school application and provide information on where to find program information and timelines.
9:40 – 10:00 am: Graduate student panel
Current University graduate students will talk about their experiences applying to and starting graduate school. Moderated by Loren Pietsch, Graduate School Program Coordinator.
10:00 am – 10:20 am: Imposter phenomenon
Sarah Blithe, Ph.D, Associate Professor of Communication Studies, will talk about recognizing and dealing with imposter syndrome.
10:20 am – 10:30 am: Break
Take a few moments to get up and stretch, refill your water, and think of questions for our next set of presenters!
10:30 am – 10:45 am Financial aid for graduate students
Geoffrey Green, University Senior Financial Aid Advisor, will discuss financial aid options for graduate students.
10:45 am – 11:00 am Graduate Student assistantships and fellowships
The University's Director of Graduate Student Services, Veronica Zepeda, Ph.D., will talk about the benefits of and how to obtain a graduate assistantship or fellowship to help fund your graduate education.
11:00 am – 11:30 am Breakout sessions
You will have the opportunity to meet in small groups with faculty and graduate students from your program area of interest. Hear about and ask specific questions about the application process, course offerings, career opportunities, and more!
