Master Gardeners of Clark County, Outstanding Extension Supporter

Master Gardeners in Clark County embody the mission of Extension to disseminate (from the Latin for scatter seed) home gardening information to the residents of Clark County. Their dedication and commitment is demonstrated by the variety of activities they undertake to carry out the mission. Their impact in 2022 includes over 22,000 hours of service to the community with a value of over $671,900 in providing research- and evidence-based information and guidance to home gardeners in Clark County. They come from all walks of life at all stages of life, and share their love of gardening in the desert with all.

 

Anna Belle Monti.

Annabelle Monti, Natural Resources & Environmental Science Leadership Award

Anna Belle is an alumna of tne College's Natural Resources & Environmental Science Department, and currently is a forester with the Carson Ranger District on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. She invests a significant amount of time to department faculty and graduate student research efforts, guest lectures in nearly all of our forestry courses, and is an active and supportive member of the University's Whittell Forest & Wildlife Area Advisory Committee.

 

Wei Yang.

Dr. Wei Yang, Marsha Read Leadership Award in Nutrition & Dietetics

Wei has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for Nevadans by leading multiple research efforts that have increased awareness and understanding of biological, environmental and behavioral variables that impact health, including large-scale surveillance systems that inform Nevada's health policies. Wei generously serves as a faculty member of the College's Nutrition Graduate Program and the Dietetic Advisory Board. The Department of Nutrition is pleased to recognize Wei’s accomplishments with the 2023 Marsha Read Leadership Award in Nutrition & Dietetics.

 

Ted Borda.

Ted Borda, Outstanding Agriculturist

Ted Borda from Borda Land and Livestock has been an outstanding partner of the University. Each year, Ted donates two lambs to the sheep class for the carcass evaluation lab and graciously gives multiple guest lectures about issues facing Nevada woolgrowers. Ted is a collaborative and engaging partner in University targeted grazing and genomic studies with multiple faculty at the University. He is very knowledgeable and such a great pleasure to work with.
