Summary

I study molecular changes that occur during aging in the nematode C. elegans. Primarily, I focus on understanding the regulation of circular RNAs, which accumulate during aging in several animals. C. elegans is a useful model organism for studying aging because of its short lifespan. In addition, approximately 60% of C. elegans genes are homologs of human genes. The insulin/IGF-1 signaling pathway was first described in C. elegans.
