Summary

Dr. Yonan is a first generation college student. She began her college career at Modesto Junior College and earned her B.S. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at University of California, San Diego. Dr. Yonan then earned her Ph.D. in Human Genetics at Columbia University in the City of New York. As a Teaching Professor, Dr. Yonan is focused on active learning techniques including using flipped classrooms and peer discussion groups. Before joining the Biology department at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2017, Dr. Yonan taught at the University of Vermont for 12 years. When she’s not teaching, Dr. Yonan enjoys biking, camping and kayaking with her family.
