Summary

Emma Sepulveda was born in Argentina and raised in Chile. She attended the University of Chile in Santiago until the coup d'etat of 1973. She immigrated to the United States in 1974 and completed her B.A. and M.A. at the University of Nevada, Reno and eventually earned a Ph.D. from the University of California at Davis.

She is the author or co-author of 17 books, including works of poetry, non-fiction, photography, literary criticism and textbooks for teaching Spanish.

In 2004, she became a Foundation Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno. She was the first Latina/o to receive that distinction.
