Transferring from California

Core curriculum and major transfer guides

The University of Nevada, Reno partners with California's colleges to establish transfer guides. These guides help students transfer smoothly to the University.

  • Lower-division core waivers are awarded to students if they complete an AA-T, AS-T, IGETC, CSU Breadth, or Cal-GETC. Per the NSHE Board of Regents, all students must complete ENG 102 and the United States and Nevada Constitutions requirements. Waivers will not be processed for General Education course requirements that serve as prerequisites for major courses. See the University Catalog for more information.
  • Major transfer guides serve as a roadmap for students, helping them choose the right classes for their intended major and major-specific core.
  • Core transfer guides help students choose the right classes to satisfy the core curriculum.

Students must review core and major guides with their academic advisors to ensure they enroll in the correct classes before transferring to the university. Transfer guides are not intended to be a contract with the University of Nevada, Reno. The information in these guides is aligned with the catalog year listed and is subject to change. Please refer to the University Catalog for the most current curriculum.
