Council of Asian and Pacific Islander Clubs and Organizations
Our mission is to unite Asian and Pacific Islander (API) clubs along with organizations on campus. We hope to raise awareness for the Asian American and Pacific Islander community both at the university and in the Reno area. Currently our council is comprised of the Asian American Student Association (AASA), Alpha Phi Gamma Sorority, Chinese Talk-Talk, Hawaii Club, Lambda Psi Rho Fraternity, Japanese Student Association Network, Japanese Talk-Talk, and the Pilipino Undergraduate Students' Organization (PUSO)
Greek Letter Organizations
Alpha Phi Gamma (A Phi G) is dedicated to bringing together women of different nationalities who strive to establish a true sisterhood through the first Asian Interest Sorority at the University of Nevada. Alpha Phi Gamma wants to provide support, friendship, sisterhood, and lasting relationships.
Lambda Phi Xi is the first and only true multicultural sorority on the Nevada campus since 2005. It aims to create a diverse sisterhood where women of all natures, regardless of race, religion, political affiliation, handicap, age, size, or sexual preference can come together in a positive, nurturing environment, uniting to advance the ideals of equality, multiculturalism, educational achievement, unsurpassed strength and personal values.
Lambda Psi Rho (LPR) strives to develop brotherhood and individual growth through discipline, integrity, and commitment. LPR is the first and only Asian-interest fraternity at UNR and in the State of Nevada.
Clubs and Organizations
AASA is a student group dedicated to the understanding of Asian American awareness in our community, building lasting relationships through shared experiences, and furthering Asian American culture.
PUSO promotes Filipino culture and awareness in Nevada. They welcome students of all colors, shapes and sizes to join their club and experience Pilipino culture through weekly meetings, socials, fundraisers, and most importantly, friendship.
Japanese Student Action Network (JSAN) is an organization for all students interested in Japanese culture and language. We do events like the Summer Festival, cooking workshops, and movie nights.
This club was created to provide a "Home Away From Home" to students who are from Hawaii and to gather people who share an interest in the Hawaiian Culture.
Talk-Talk is a program that started in Fall 2006 in collaboration with the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, in order to give students a venue to practice their language skills, make friends, and have a fun time by pairing students up with native speakers of the language they are studying.
