Outstanding Community-Engaged Student Award

Our office values the many ways we collaborate and work together for the public good. The role of students is essential to the development, implementation, and growth of a public university. In community-engaged learning, students explore various areas and often reflect on their observations and work, making meaningful connections through lived experiences and course content.

The purpose of this award is to recognize and celebrate outstanding student learners and leaders in community engagement, both on and off campus. Specifically, this student demonstrates high levels of engagement, a dedication to the communities they serve, and excellence in their learning and leadership abilities while working with communities. Community-engaged learning benefits all participants equally, fostering a strong coalition and collaboration between the university and the community.

The winner of the Outstanding Community-Engaged Student will receive an invitation to the annual Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement Breakfast event and be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments at the University. They will also receive an individual plaque signed by University staff and leadership.
