Yuri Yoshida, Ph.D., P.T.

Associate Professor, Physical Therapy

Summary

Dr. Yuri Yoshida is an associate professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Nevada, Reno's School of Public Health. Her research integrates physical therapy assessments with biomechanical concepts to better understand how clinical outcomes reflect an individual’s performance in daily activities.

Her early research focused on the effects of outpatient physical therapy following total knee arthroplasty. More recently, she has developed an interest in functional recovery following lower-limb amputation. She has also published research examining the concurrent validity of potential screening tests for early mobility decline.

Her publications reflect expertise in motion capture systems, electromyography and clinical functional outcome analysis. Yoshida also mentors clinicians, including physical therapists and athletic trainers, in research activities at the national and international levels.

Her teaching experience includes prosthetic rehabilitation, tests and measurements, and biomechanics for Doctor of Physical Therapy students.
