Clinical Associate Professor

Summary

Dr. Kelley Steury is a veterinarian, public health professional and board-certified specialist in veterinary preventive medicine. Her work is driven by a passion for preparing the next generation of public health professionals to address complex health challenges through collaboration. Through teaching, program development and Extension, she focuses on One Health, infectious diseases, epidemiology and emergency preparedness.

Her professional experience spans public health, veterinary clinical practice, equine biologics production for biodefense, veterinary diagnostic pathology and academia. Before joining the University of Nevada, Reno, Steury served on the faculty at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she helped develop and co-directed the Bachelor of Science in Public and One Health program. She enjoys creating innovative educational programs and opportunities for students to explore public health through interdisciplinary learning. Throughout her career, she has taught learners ranging from elementary school students to undergraduate, veterinary and professional audiences, adapting public health concepts for each stage of learning.

Outside of work, Steury enjoys hiking, camping, photography and exploring the mountains, interests that complement her lifelong passion for environmental conservation. She is married and has three children. She also shares her home with four cats.
