Healthcare advertising physician survey FAQ

Who is conducting this study?

This study is being conducted by researchers at the University of Nevada, Reno who received a research grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation. The researchers contracted with the Nevada Center for Surveys, Evaluation, and Statistics at the University of Nevada, Reno to implement this survey.

How was I selected?

You were randomly chosen from a list of all active MDs practicing in Washoe and Clark Counties as provided by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.

What is this study about?

Our goal is to gain an understanding of physicians’ attitudes toward healthcare service advertising.

How will my information be used?

Your survey answers will be combined with all others’ who complete the survey. We intend to publish the results in academic and professional journals to further the discussions about how to best utilize healthcare service advertising to promote high quality care and patient welfare.

All results will be reported in a group format only. No individual response will be reported. If any direct quotes are used, no individuals will be identified. 

How does this benefit me?

There may be no direct benefit to you. However, by answering the survey questions, you will help researchers identify physicians’ perceptions and practices regarding healthcare service advertising . Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. Participating in this study poses no more risk than what we experience in our everyday routines.

How do I take part in this survey?

You can access the survey using the unique code that was mailed to you and entering the survey URL (link) provided in the letter into your internet browser. Completing the survey online will take just 10-15 minutes.

Will I be paid?

Everyone who completes the survey will get a $20 gift card. The gift card will be sent to the email address you provide us. The gift card can be used online at Amazon or Starbucks.  

How will you keep my information secure?

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Your name and address from the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners will be kept separate from the survey response database. Your name will never be matched with your responses and never be included in any reports that result from this survey. Only the researchers at the University of Nevada, Reno involved in this project will have access to the data.
