About Our Program

The Environmental Sciences Graduate Program is based on the tenet that graduate education in the environmental sciences requires an interdisciplinary approach encompassing the fields of biology, chemistry, ecology, geology, human health and physics. We offer programs of study leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Sciences.

Our interdisciplinary faculty come together from diverse fields of study across a wide range of departments from multiple institutions—the University of Nevada, Reno, the Desert Research Institute, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the Truckee Meadows Community College.

We work closely with each of our graduate students to customize your individual program of study to your research interests and to prepare you for further graduate study or careers with a multidisciplinary focus including research, regulatory work, and consulting.

Our program has been offering graduate degrees since 1994 when it was approved by the Nevada System of Higher Education. We have performed several in-depth reviews of our program. If you would like to read these detailed reports you can download our self-study and our external review.
