Bachelor of Arts in Gender Race, and Identity (GRI)

The GRI B.A. with a concentration in Women's Studies provides students with an understanding of women and gender in historical and contemporary contexts. The interdisciplinary coursework is multicultural, emphasizing the intersection of race, class, sexuality, gender and ethnicity. During the degree, students learn critical thinking and personal empowerment and have opportunities for collaborative and applied learning as they prepare for graduate or professional school or a variety of careers in public and private sectors.

Students will:

  • Study gender in historical and contemporary contexts
  • Discuss critical theory in gender studies and multiculturalism
  • Consider the intersections of race, class, sexuality, gender and ethnicity
  • Examine power dynamics in contexts ranging from global issues to personal relationships
  • Apply a range of theories and methods to real world problems
  • Develop critical thinking skills and new perspectives
