The accounting major provides students with the theories and procedures necessary to prepare them for the many facets of the accounting profession, such as public, managerial, tax and government accounting. Students graduating from the department are prepared to obtain employment in a competitive job market, start a business, or continue their education in graduate and professional degree programs.
If you graduate with a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting and have taken the appropriate electives, you are qualified to sit for the CPA exam in the State of Nevada. Please note that additional education is required beyond a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting to become a licensed CPA. Contact the Nevada State Board of Accountancy for more details on the CPA exam, and the additional requirements to become a licensed CPA in Nevada. For specific requirements in any other state or jurisdiction, refer to the appropriate regulatory body’s website.

The Accounting department at the College of Business offers a Master of Accountancy degree program for graduate students interested in furthering their accounting education.
Offered by the AACSB-accredited Department of Accounting at the College of Business, this program develops strong technical and professional accounting skills considerably beyond the introductory courses presented to undergraduates. Students completing the program receive a well-rounded business education. In addition to graduate accounting courses, students are exposed to basic courses in the functional area of business. The MAcc program emphasizes the skills needed to succeed in the business community, including teamwork, leadership and the ability to communicate effectively.
