Nutrition Student Awards

 

Mandy Lantz.

Mandy Lantz, Outstanding Senior, Dietetics

Mandy was selected as the 2023 Outstanding Dietetic Student. While earning her B.S. in nutrition (dietetic specialization), she has excelled in her classes, gained valuable working experience as a dietary aide, volunteered at Pack Provisions, and participated in extracurricular associations. Something that stands out about Mandy is her passion for nutrition and desire to become a registered dietitian nutritionist. After graduation, Mandy plans to complete a dietetic internship. The Department of Nutrition is honored to recognize Mandy's accomplishments with this award.

 

Daniella Wood.

Daniella Wood, Outstanding Senior, Nutritional Science

Daniella was selected as the 2023 Outstanding Nutritional Science Student. Daniella's academic journey has included enrollment in five different universities and colleges. She notes that her academic journey mirrors her childhood, since she is the daughter of Army veterans and is accustomed to moving frequently. Daniella's goal is to become a physician assistant and to incorporate nutrition into her practice, given the importance of nutrition in preventing and treating disease. The Department of Nutrition is honored to recognize Daniella with this award.

 

Joel Paniagua Soto.

Joel Paniagua Soto, Outstanding Graduate Student, Nutrition

Joel will soon earn his M.S. in nutrition. He is completing a professional paper on the gut microbiome and cancer prevention. In addition to maintaining an excellent GPA, Joel has served as a graduate teaching assistant for four different nutrition courses. In the future, he plans to become board certified in oncology nutrition. The Department of Nutrition is pleased to recognize Joel's accomplishments by selecting him as Outstanding Nutrition Graduate Student for 2023.
