Atmospheric Science

Atmospheric Sciences encompasses many areas of study that explore the atmosphere's physical characteristics, motions and processes, and how these influence all aspects of the environment and human life.

Atmospheric scientists interpret and predict weather patterns, analyze climate trends, monitor air quality, working in a wide variety of agencies, laboratories, businesses and educational institutions.

Degrees in Atmospheric Science

  • Undergraduate Minor in Atmospheric Science: Students pursuing an undergraduate minor in atmospheric science take classes including meteorology and climate change.
  • Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science: Students pursuing a bachelor of science in atmospheric science have career opportunities including atmospheric physics, atmospheric chemistry and meteorology.
  • Master of Science in Atmospheric Science: Students pursuing a master of science degree in atmospheric science pursue research in atmospheric chemistry, cloud and aerosol physics, atmospheric optics and acoustics, numerical modeling, fire climatology and other topics.
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Atmospheric Science: Students pursuing a doctorate in atmospheric science pursue research in atmospheric chemistry, cloud and aerosol physics, instrument development, atmospheric optics and acoustics, mesoscale meteorology, numerical modeling, fire climatology and other topics.
