Summary
Hello! My name is Paola, and I am a current psychology major with a minor in human resource management. I am currently involved in research across two labs on campus, and I am particularly interested in studying DEI within industrial-organizational psychology. In my free time, I enjoy making playlists, baking, and playing with my cat Zuko!
My first-generation story
I am the first in my family to attend college. I first arrived at the University of Nevada, Reno without any real idea of how I should pursue my interests in psychology. Early into my freshman year at the University, I walked into the Honors College, and I was welcomed to the world of research (thanks to Dr. Ingram-Waters!). I learned about all the wonderful programs offered to First-Gen students, and I quickly applied to the McNair Scholars program. As a McNair Scholar, I was given the opportunity to expand my research interests from child development, to adult social psychology, and now industrial-organizational research, and develop professional skills while doing so. Today, I have conducted research across different labs, presented my work at conferences, and have built relationships with mentors that I will always value.
