About Partnering for Impact: Water Forums

Partnering for Impact: Water Forums are a conversation about what is possible when water leaders collaborate to better serve the water industry. Headed into its 5th year, this annual event creates the opportunity to generate and share new ideas and recognize current and future collaboration opportunities. The water sector and our communities continually look towards visionary leadership to create innovative and impactful solutions for increasingly complex water challenges. Our belief is that by working together with focused intent, we can accelerate the creation of ideas and implementation of results.

Partnering for Impact events began in 2016 in San Francisco, California with over 45 delegates from 12 national professional water organizations, including: WEF, Bluetech, Imagine H2O, US Water Alliance, AWWA, IWA, NWRI, WRF, WRA, and SFPUC. The group met to answer the simple question “how can we accomplish more by working together?”.  Since that initial inspirational meeting, follow-up national Partnering for Impact: Water Forums occurred in Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington DC.  In 2017, a shoot-off event occurred with a NEXGEN group led by Fidan Karimova of The Water Research Foundation.

Partnering for Impact: Water Forums continue to bring together key water influencers to explore how they can work more collaboratively to reach water sustainability and resiliency goals, drive economic prosperity, develop the next generation of water professional, and build innovation and research capacity. The fundamental goal is to enable a dialogue between leaders of the public sector, private organizations, and research institutions to seek out each other's needs and establish common objectives that will have a meaningful impact on the water environment right now, as well as create success in the future.

Since 2017, the Nevada Water Innovation Institute at the University of Nevada, Reno is the institutional home for Partnering for Impact: Water Forums.
