Summary

Sandra is a literacy, equity, and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) specialist with over 16 years of experience in K-5 education. She currently serves as Regional Implementation Coordinator for the Nevada MTSS Project at the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED) in the College of Education & Human Development at the University of Nevada, Reno.

In this role, Sandra supervises and mentors District MTSS Coaches, provides sustained coaching and technical assistance to districts and schools, and supports the implementation of equitable, comprehensive MTSS frameworks to improve academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomes for all students. Previously, as a District Literacy Specialist in Lexington Public Schools, Massachusetts, she designed and delivered professional development for hundreds of educators, led tiered literacy initiatives, and mentored new literacy coaches transitioning into district-level roles. She also served as Curriculum Coordinator and Literacy Instructional Coach in Arlington Public Schools, MA.

Sandra holds a Master’s degree in Reading Instruction (K-12) from Lesley University and advanced certifications in Literacy Coaching from Teachers College, Columbia University, and Teachers 21, the Boston Teacher Leadership Program. Committed to equitable education and systems-level improvement, Sandra is dedicated to partnering with Nevada’s districts and state-level specialists to create sustainable, high-quality supports that elevate academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomes for all students.
