Summary
Kathy Wilder is the coordinator of retention for the College of Education and Human Development. She brings more than 30 years of dedicated service to youth and family nonprofit organizations, K-12 education, and state and federal social service agencies.
Throughout her career, Kathy has centered her work on intersectional justice, anti-racism, belonging, and the transformative power of human connection. Her doctoral research was inspired by a deep commitment to the vital role nonprofit organizations play in strengthening communities. Her dissertation highlights the importance of investing in the resilience and well-being of nonprofit and social sector employees.
In her role as Coordinator of Retention, Kathy puts this passion into action by supporting the long-term success, resilience, and sense of belonging of future educators, nonprofit leaders, and changemakers. She is dedicated to helping students thrive academically, personally, and professionally as they prepare to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
Beyond the university, Kathy serves on the boards of the Community Food Pantry in Sparks, Nevada, and Galilee Camp and Retreat Center at Lake Tahoe. She also works as a coach and consultant for social sector organizations across the nation, helping mission-driven leaders and organizations strengthen their impact and sustainability.
