What will the minor in aerospace engineering teach me?

Aerospace engineers are the professionals who design and build aircraft and space vehicles. In the aerospace engineering minor, you'll take courses in mechanical and electrical engineering that introduce you to fundamental topics in aerospace engineering.

The minor includes courses in numerical methods, system design, fluid dynamics and control systems as well as three required courses related to flight. The minor is open to any student at the university, but students majoring in engineering or the physical science may find the minor a good fit with their major.

This minor will prepare you for work in industries such as commercial aviation, defense, wind energy, automotive and more.

Housed in the Mechanical Engineering department, the minor in aerospace engineering can complement a variety of majors. The aerospace engineering minor emphasizes applications of mechanical engineering principles such as dynamics and controls, thermal-fluid sciences, and materials and manufacturing subsections, to the aerospace industry. It also prepares you to apply skills learned in mechanical engineering towards the design of highly complex aircraft and spacecraft systems.
