Application fee deferrals
The University of Nevada, Reno offers application fee deferrals for first-time freshman. The University does not accept fee waivers, including fee waivers from the College Board or any other third parties.
The application fee deferral process is designed to allow students applying for degree-seeking programs, who have demonstrated financial hardship, the option to defer their application fees until their Financial Aid is received.
How to apply for an application deferral
There is a three-step process to apply for an application fee deferral. Below is a description of each step you need to complete.
Step 1: Complete and submit your online application for admissions
You must apply for admissions online as part of the application fee deferral process. Complete each section of the Domestic Undergraduate First-Year application, including the Application Review. Click the “Finalize Application and Pay” button/link, but do not submit payment.
Step 2: Complete the application fee deferral form
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Application fee deferral form". The email response will include the link to the form.
Step 3: Submit supporting documentation
In addition to your application, you must also submit one of the following documentation to the Office of Admissions and Records:
- A copy of the student's parent's or guardian's most recent federal tax return
- A letter from a high school counselor that indicates the student is on a free or reduced lunch program*
*Current high school students only
The application fee deferral form provides an option to attach documentation or students may choose to hand deliver document to Office of Admissions and Records, located on the second floor of the Fitzgerald Student Services Building or mail to the following address:
