In addition, language study on your transcripts will give you an advantage in any career choice. Foreign language study offers a wider understanding of the cultures of countries trading with the United States. Multinational corporations seek employees with multilingual communicative abilities to compete in a global market. An employer will see the employee with various language abilities as a bridge to new clients.

The Spanish program at the University of Nevada, Reno includes courses in Peninsular, Hispanic-American, and U.S. Latino culture and literature.

Degrees in Spanish

  • Minor in Spanish Translation: The minor in Spanish Translation addresses the needs of students interested in Spanish translation and wishing to acquire a higher degree of competence in the field.
  • Minor in Spanish: Spanish provides students with oral and compositional competency in Spanish.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Spanish: Spanish provides students with oral and compositional competency in Spanish.
  • Master of Arts in Spanish: The mission of the graduate program is to educate students in Spanish language, culture, and literature at the highest possible level, to provide students with a broad knowledge base from which to pursue more-specialized studies, and to offer a depth of experience in scholarship that will advance their future professional activities.
