Accelerated BSN program
Embarking on a journey to become a nurse is both exciting and life changing. At the Orvis School of Nursing, our accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is designed for students who are ready to dive into an intensive 16-month pathway to achieve their nursing goals.
Admission requirements
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno for the term they are applying.
- All transcripts must be submitted to the University's Office of Admissions and Records.
- Complete the following courses with a minimum grade of 'C':
- CHEM 121A/L
- BIO 189 o BIOL 223A/L
- BIOL 224A/L
- BIOL 251A/L
- NUTR 223
- HDFS 201
- MATH 126 or higher
- Communication
- NURS 407
- Up to 16 credits may be in progress, with no more than four science credits pending.
- Earn a minimum score of 65% on the ATI TEAS exam, a standardized assessment measuring essential academic skills in reading, math, science, and English, taken within one year prior to application.

Accelerated BSN application process
Ready to get started? Follow these steps to apply to the accelerated BSN program at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Step 1: Complete prerequisite courses
Complete all required prerequisite courses with a grade of 'C' or higher.
- Review the list of required courses and ensure you meet the requirements.
- Plan your schedule to complete any outstanding prerequisites.
Note: You can have up to 16 credits in progress when you apply, with no more than four science credits pending.
Step 2: Apply to the University (if not currently enrolled)
Apply to the University and secure admission for the semester in which you plan to start the nursing program.
- Submit your university application by the specified deadline.
- Provide all necessary transcripts and documentation.
Note: Admission to the University is a prerequisite for applying to the Orvis School of Nursing.
Step 3: Take the TEAS exam
Complete the ATI TEAS exam with a minimum score of 65%. This must be taken within one year before your application date.
- Register for the TEAS exam through the ATI website.
- Choose "ATI Remote Proctor – Nursing" and select your test date.
- After completing the exam, request to have your transcript sent to "U of NV Reno" via your ATI student account.
- Prepare to meet or exceed the score requirement.
Note: You may take the TEAS exam twice per application cycle, with the highest score considered.
Step 4: Submit your application to the Orvis School of Nursing
Complete and submit your nursing program application within the application period.
- Gather all required materials, including TEAS scores and transcripts.
- Submit your application by the deadline.
Note: Double-check your application to ensure all information is accurate and complete.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice program, and post-graduate APRN certificate program at University of Nevada, Reno Orvis School of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
