Referrals
In certain situations, a Student Health Center provider may refer you to an off‑campus specialist or outside facility for additional testing or evaluation. Our Patient Care Coordinator is available to assist with the referral process. Please note that insurance information must be provided before a referral can be scheduled, and HMO plans typically require referrals to be coordinated by an in‑network primary care provider.
Once a referral has been made, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the specialist’s office directly to arrange an appointment time. Patients are advised to contact their insurance company for specific billing questions prior to any scheduled visits outside of the SHC.
