Nursing at Lake Tahoe

The Orvis School of Nursing (OSN) is launching a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the Wayne L. Prim Campus at the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe — bringing premier nursing education to the heart of the Sierra.
This new program option expands access to the BSN for students who seek a smaller campus experience while gaining the same rigorous preparation and clinical excellence that define the Orvis School of Nursing. Students at Lake Tahoe benefit from small class sizes, personalized support, and the opportunity to learn and live in a breathtaking natural setting.
What to expect
Same curriculum, new location. Students complete the same high-quality BSN curriculum as their Reno campus peers, taught by OSN faculty dedicated to student success.
Integrated clinical placements. OSN coordinates all clinical placements, connecting Lake Tahoe students with partner healthcare systems in the surrounding region.
Community-focused nursing. The program emphasizes service to rural and mountain communities, preparing nurses to practice in diverse and often under-resourced settings.
Transfer-friendly pathway. The Lake Tahoe BSN is ideal for students who have completed nursing prerequisites and are ready to enter the professional phase of the program.
Program launch timeline
Applications will open in January 2026, and the first cohort of 16 students will begin classes in August 2026.
