Twenty-two Nevada Wolf Pack student-athletes have applied for graduation at the University of Nevada this semester and the University of Nevada's Winter Commencement will take place Saturday, Dec. 5 at Lawlor Events Center.

"Graduating from the University is the ultimate goal for our student-athletes and we are proud of this group for this achievement," said Doug Knuth, Nevada's third-year athletics director. "We thank them for their contributions to Nevada athletics and are excited for their bright future."

Graduating Nevada student-athletes are given special silver and blue cords to wear at commencement in recognition of their efforts as student-athletes. Wolf Pack student-athletes are the only University students allowed to wear silver and blue cords.

This crop of graduates represent nine of Nevada's sports programs. The 22 student-athletes who are graduating, as well as one member of the spirit team, are part of a Winter Commencement-record of 1,604 degrees - 1,239 bachelor's degrees and 365 advanced degrees or certificates (master's and doctoral degrees) - that will be awarded.

Including this winter's graduates, Nevada has seen 683 of its student-athletes graduate in the past 10 years. The Wolf Pack's Graduation Success Rate is at 79 percent in the recent NCAA data - the third-highest mark in school history.

Public parking is available in the West Stadium Parking Complex, directly north of Lawlor Events Center, as well as the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex. The 15th Street entrance to campus, off Virginia Street, will close at 7 a.m. and will be accessible for special guests only. Due to current world events, heightened security is in place for the ceremony. Guests are asked not to bring any items into the event that cannot be searched. Wrapped gifts are an example of this.
