She received a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Washington, Seattle. She joined the College of Education faculty in UNR in 2006. Her scholarly interests are: social and academic integration experiences of newcomer immigrant students; globalization, culture, and education; and, culturally responsive teaching.
