Summary
Joshua Ozymy serves as a professor and Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Reno. He held previous administrative appointments as Interim Chair of the Department of Communication Studies, Director of Strategic Initiatives, Director of the Honors Program and served as President of the Faculty Senate.
His research focuses on U.S. environmental law, crime and justice. He is the author of 100 journal articles and chapters and three books, including: Rivers on Fire and Corporate Liars: The Monitoring and Sanctioning of U.S Water Pollution Crimes (Rutgers University Press, 2026), The U.S. Administrative State and the Protection of Environmental Crime Victims (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024) and Toxic Intent: Environmental Harm, Corporate Crime, and the Criminal Enforcement of Federal Environmental Laws in the United States (Environmental Law Institute Press, 2023). He is currently working on a manuscript that examines the criminal enforcement of air pollution crimes in the United States.
