Summary

Britni L. Adams received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Irvine. Her research focuses on family and youth experiences that are impacted by crime, law and the criminal justice system. One branch of her research examines family networks and how they are impacted by incarceration. Additionally, in partnerships with community organizations in Florida, Britni and a colleague received a grant in 2022 to facilitate a youth-led study exploring the support children of incarcerated parents receive and still need during parental incarceration. The other main branch of her research highlights youth development as it intersects with social institutions such as law and family.

    • As an ADE, Adams builds technology into her teaching and assessments for students to gain experience and skills for learning, productivity and engagement. As students build comfort and skills with technology in the classroom, they will eb able to continue to create, innovate and advance their own goals and careers after graduation. Adams is also a member of the Digital Wolf Pack Initiative as a Faculty Ambassador, supporting faculty to integrate technology into their instruction and assessment at the University, a 1:1 iPad-to-student ratio Apple Distinguished School.
