Phil Sharp

Director of Forensics (Debate); Lecturer


Phil Sharp has been the director of debate forensics at University of Nevada, Reno since Fall 2008. Prior to that he was the director at the University of Montana while attending graduate school and was the assistant director (Parli) for three years at Western Washington University.

  • 2001-02: Coached the regular season No. 1 team in the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence (NPTE) rankings
  • 2008-09: Coached the NPTE and National Parliamentary Debate Association (NYDA) national champions and the NPTE top speaker
  • 2009-10: Coached the Lincoln Douglas Open Championship top speaker
  • 2010-11: Coached the NPDA Al Johnson top speaker
  • 2013-14: Coached the NPDA Season Sweepstakes National Champions
  • 2016-17: Coached the NPDA Al Johnson top speaker
  • ASUN Club Advisor of the Year (2013-14 and 2016-17)
