Summary

Lisa (Hihci Nagabagíish) is an enrolled member of the MHA Nation of North Dakota. A language learner since childhood, she is also a former k12 Hidatsa language teacher and adjunct instructor on the Fort Berthold Reservation. She is an alum of United Tribes Technical College (Media Arts A.A.S), University of North Dakota (Communications B.A.) and University of Arizona (Native American Linguistics M.A.). As a critically endangered language, Lisa is committed to strengthening pathways for community members to learn and reconnect with the language, including access to jobs and careers in language and culture. Through her work, she encourages Indigenous community members to engage with linguistics as a tool for language revitalization, language teaching and community empowerment.
