Summary
Lillian Maassen was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and has found her way there again in recent years to make her home between the mountains and the ocean. She earned her M.Phil in Linguistics from Trinity College Dublin in 2019, then attended CoLang in Missoula, Montana, in 2022 with the dream of doing Indigenous language work. That dream came true six months later when she was hired as Editor for the Alaska Native Language Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Since then, she has brought six books in five Alaska Native languages to publication, ranging from dictionaries to novels. She is thrilled to be back at CoLang this year with the opportunity to share what she's learned and keep learning from others.
