Summary

Craig Alan Volker is an adjunct professor at The Cairns Institute, James Cook University, a member of the Jawun Research Institute at CQ University (both in Queensland, Australia), a visiting professor at Beijing Foreign Language University and a long-term resident of New Ireland Province, Papua New Guinea, where he serves as a Wangpaang (Assistant Talking Chief) of the Sea Eagle Clan of the Nalik people. He was formerly Professor for Linguistic Research at Divine Word University (Papua New Guinea) and Professor of Language at Gifu Shōtoku Gakuen University (Japan) and has been a visiting professor at several universities in Germany, Switzerland and China. He is particularly interested in using Papua New Guinean languages for contemporary purposes, such as formal education, books, films and comics. He edited the Oxford University Press Tok Pisin Dictionary and is currently collaborating with a team of elders to produce the first dictionary of the Nalik language of New Ireland Province, Papua New Guinea.
