Eventbrite guide
When to use Localist
All University happenings, including those hosted by our College, units, departments, offices and programs, should be posted to the official University events platform, Localist.
This events platform populates all events calendars, pages and widgets across all University, College, unit, department, office and program webpages, as well as the events section of the University's email newsletter, Nevada Weekly.
Localist also includes powerful events management features, such as customized event registration forms, automated registration confirmation and reminder emails, an attendee check-in system, support for large events, such as conferences, and more.
Everyone with a NetID has access to submit and manage their own events on this platform and is welcome to request additional access to manage all events for their unit or department.
For details, visit the University's Localist webpage.
When to use Eventbrite
The University is working to make Localist's paid registration features available for use. To manage paid events until then, the process is to:
- Post the event to the official University events platform, Localist, as usual, AND
- Link from there over to a third-party tool, such as Eventbrite, for registration and payment.
The best place in Localist to link over to the third-party registration tool is in the "Registration and Ticketing" section, in the "Registration / Ticket Link" field.
Getting started on Eventbrite
When looking to get started on Eventbrite, the direction is to use a relevant existing Eventbrite account rather than create a new Eventbrite account.
For access to:
- Extension, Northern Area's Eventbrite account, contact the Extension, Northern Area admin team.
- The College's Eventbrite account for academics and Experiment Station, contact the College's communications team.
- Other existing Eventbrite accounts (e.g., 4-H, Master Gardeners), contact the office, program or finance team directly.
The expectation is that all Eventbrite accounts meet all University and College policies, including those related to branding. Tips for marketing best practice and brand compliance are below.
Use branded templates
The College's communications team has made available templates for brand-compliant Eventbrite header images:
- Color-pop template (eight versions) - Coordinates with the College's branded flyer templates to provide a cohesive suite of promotional materials.
- Photo collage template (one version) - An additional option, useful when the event is better represented by more than one photo.
Images from the College's photo library may be used in these templates.
Pro tip: Programs can use photos featuring program branding (e.g., 4-H branded apparel, signs, materials) to ensure program branding is highlighted in the Eventbrite header image.

Set up your organizer profile
Tutorials on creating and managing your organizer profile are available from the Eventbrite Help Center.
Organizer profile image
Use the University’s Block N logo, available for download from the University via Canto.
Organizer name
For events hosted by the College, one of its academic departments or its Experiment Station unit, use College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources as the organizer name. For events hosted by Extended Studies, use University of Nevada, Reno Extended Studies as the organizer name. For events hosted by Extension, use University of Nevada, Reno Extension as the organizer name.
Do not use program, major, office, lab or team names as the organizer name.
Organizer website
Use a website that has unr.edu in the address. Examples include the College’s website; the website for the relevant unit or academic department of the College; or the unr.edu website for the relevant program, major, office, lab or team.
If you have a website for your program, major, office, lab or team and it’s not a unr.edu website, contact the College’s communications team for assistance.
Organizer page URL
Customizing this URL helps attendees find your events. To ensure a consistent experience for College stakeholders across platforms, as well as alignment with University brand heirarchy, follow this naming convention:
- Organizer name: College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources → Organizer URL: UNRCABNR
- Organizer name: University of Nevada, Reno Extended Studies → Organizer URL: UNRExtendedStudies
- Organizer name: University of Nevada, Reno Extension → Organizer URL: UNRExtension
Pro tip: Programs can follow brand heirarchy (University, College, unit, office, program, program offerings, etc.), using the above naming convention, to highlight program branding in the organizer URL (e.g., UNRExtensionCounty, UNRExtensionCountyProgram, UNRExtensionProgram).
Troubleshooting:
- Never drop Extension for length. When URLs get too long for including Extension + County + Program + Program offering or event, the county and/or program name drops. Extension does not.
- When a program name is too long, a shortened version is preferable over an acronym (e.g., Extension's Partners in Parenting Program → UNRExtensionParenting).
Organizer bio
The organizer bio and event overview fields are excellent opportunities for featuring program branding.
In the organizer bio field, include the College's or unit's boilerplate first, followed by the program's boilerplate, and end with the appropriate compliance statements.
Extension's boilerplate
An EEO/AA Institution: Extension is a unit of the University of Nevada, Reno’s College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources engaged in Nevada communities, presenting research-based knowledge to address critical community needs. It is a county-state-federal partnership providing practical education to people, businesses and communities.
Compliance statements
