Historical Archaeology Laboratory
The Historical Archaeology Laboratory is located in room 508 of the Ansari Building and is under the direction of Sarah Cowie, Ph.D., with assistance from several graduate students. The lab has ample countertops, table space, storage, shelving and a sink. There are materials to stabilize, identify and catalog cultural items, in addition to our comparative and teaching collections. We have extensive equipment for archaeological survey and excavation, as well as a photography station and several computer stations. We also enjoy working with other labs and units on campus for related research (e.g., geochemistry, dendrochronology, flotation, GIS-based spatial analysis, zooarchaeology, archival research, museum work, etc.).
The lab serves as a friendly meeting place for collaborative projects. Prospective graduate students interested in using this lab are encouraged to contact Sarah Cowie.
