Summary

Kenia is originally from a small town in the municipality of Puruándiro, Michoacán, Mexico, and immigrated to the Reno–Sparks community at a young age. As a first-generation immigrant and college student, she began her higher education journey at Truckee Meadows Community College and later transferred to the University of Nevada, Reno. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2018 and her master’s degree in 2021.

As a bilingual professional, she values the role of bilingualism in expanding access, fostering connection, and empowering communities. She is passionate about promoting college access and encouraging students to explore opportunities beyond their immediate exposure, particularly in STEM and health-related careers. She is committed to supporting students in achieving their goals while also guiding and engaging their families throughout the process.

When she’s not working with students and their families, Kenia enjoys discovering new local eateries, spending time with family, and playing her violin to Mariachi music.
