Silver & Blue Catering welcomes Sheena Pena as the new director of catering

In a recent interview, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Sheena Pena, the newly appointed director of catering at Nevada Dining’s Silver & Blue Catering. With a warm smile and a genuine passion for the food and beverage industry, Sheena shared her vision for the future and her journey into the world of catering at the University of Nevada, Reno and beyond.

“We're not just providing food. We're creating moments,” Pena said. “Whether it's a tailgate, a wedding, a corporate event, or a graduation, I want people to remember the food and the atmosphere we provide.”

Sheena's journey began in Las Vegas, where she grew up and first delved into the world of hospitality. Her career has been nothing short of remarkable, with diverse experiences ranging from renowned establishments like the Wynn & Encore to managing events at country clubs. She even ventured into the world of event planning by starting her own business.

Her journey didn't stop there. Sheena's passion for the industry led her to Seattle, where she worked in catering with the Seattle Seahawks.

Sheena's background in food and beverage, coupled with her event planning expertise, positions her perfectly to lead and enhance Silver & Blue Catering.

One of the exciting developments that Sheena is particularly enthusiastic about is the recent introduction of "Student Catering" and "Casual Catering." Student Catering focuses on providing affordable and delicious dining options for students. On the other hand, Casual Catering offers budget-friendly catering solutions for casual events.

Outside of her professional life, Sheena is an active member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), an avid camper and hiker, and is often embarking on outdoor adventures with her family or exploring the natural wonders of national parks, with the Redwoods standing out as a favorite.

And with the fall season in full swing, Sheena can't hide her love for all things pumpkin, especially pumpkin pie. She also enjoys cooking prime rib and Filipino favorites like lumpia during the holidays.
