The March Science Question of the Month featured a question about the Fleischmann Planetarium.

Question

What was the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center originally named?

Solution

The original name was Fleischmann Atmospherium-Planetarium. The founder, Wendell Mordy, was an atmospheric physicist who dreamed of sharing exquisite time lapses of the night sky, daytime sky, weather and under-ocean scenes.

March's winner was James ("Jim") Carson, who was first to submit the correct response. Congratulations, Jim Carson!

Carson graduated from the University in 1986 with his Bachelor of General Studies degree. He returned to pursue his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, which he graduated with in 1994. Carson moved to Reno from Northern California in 1980. Carson worked at the University as Manager of Student Information Technologies until 2011 and is now Manager Emeritus. He enjoys traveling and having fun in his retirement.
