Lombardo met with University faculty and students and toured various sites

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo visited the University of Nevada, Reno on Feb. 2. During his time on campus, he met with University President Brian Sandoval, Executive Vice President and Provost Jeff Thompson, University faculty and students and toured the campus.

After a Wolf Pack welcome on the University’s quad, featuring the University’s cheer squad and the Pride of the Sierra marching band, Governor Lombardo visited Fleischmann Agriculture, the University’s School of Medicine, and met with members of Veteran Services and other units.

While visiting, Governor Lombardo engaged in a number of important conversations about the University and the vision of the future outlined in the five-year strategic plan, Wolf Pack Rising. 

The half-day visit was Lombardo’s first visit to campus after being sworn in as the 31st Nevada State Governor in January.

  • The band and cheerleaders greeted Governor Lombardo with a quick musical performance and a cheer.
  • Governor Lombardo had the opportunity to chat with members of the Wolf Pack family.
  • Governor Lombardo visited a number of buildings while on campus, including the Fleischmann Agricultural Building.
  • Governor Lombardo heard directly from student-athletes, including these two members of the baseball team.
  • Governor Lombardo was given a number of tolkens by the Wolf Pack, including this item from the University of Nevada Pride of the Sierra marching band.

  • After the quad, Governor Lombardo explored other areas of campus, including the Chirs Ault Field, sponsored by ITS Logistics where he and President Sandoval met with students and staff.
