Children express their creativity at ‘In and Out of the Box’

The Child and Family Research Center challenged children to put their imaginations to good use

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada, Reno’s  Child and Family Research Center (CFRC) hosted “In and Out of the Box” to encourage children to use their imaginations. The event took place Monday Oct. 20, 2014 at the University’s Honor Court. Children ranging from infancy to first grade created art installations and play structures with the help of their teachers and peers. The children created artwork out of cardboard boxes and other recycled products all the while being encouraged to be creative and create fun toys out of unconventional materials.

The CFRC is part of the Human Development and Family Studies program in the College of Education. This program provides a place for University students to conduct research, provide high quality programs for children, and gain real exposure to working in the childcare field. The CFRC provides care and education to nearly 300 children at six sites on and near campus.
