Important changes to New Student Orientation
Apr. 29, 2020
This message was sent to new students at the University of Nevada, Reno.
The University of Nevada, Reno has been closely following Nevada state directives and public health recommendations surrounding COVID-19. The safety and health of our students, faculty, staff, and guests are the highest priority, which is why we have made the decision to hold all summer orientation sessions online.
While we will miss seeing you in person for orientation, our team is already hard at work designing an engaging, interactive online experience to welcome you to the Wolf Pack. Your online orientation will include some activities that you complete at your own pace and others scheduled on the session date you signed up for. We will send detailed information via email a few weeks ahead of your scheduled session. Additional updates and answers to common questions will be shared on the orientation website. Through online orientation, you will meet other new students, connect with student orientation leaders, learn about campus life, and receive academic advising for your first semester.
The family orientation program will also be presented online. It is not too late to register your parents or guardians to participate in the online program for families. Register your guests at no cost through your orientation registration account. If you have already paid the $85 fee for one or more guests, you will receive a full refund. (Refunds will be processed automatically in the coming weeks; there is no need to cancel a guest registration to request a refund.)
Please note that our registration system will be temporarily offline for about a week while we update settings. Beginning Wednesday, May 6, you will again be able to log into your registration account in case you wish to make any changes, such as switching session dates or adding guests.
Reach out to us any time at orientation@unr.edu, and tune in to a special live webinar in which I chat with Director of Admissions Steve Maples at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30. Register for the webinar.
I look forward to answering your questions then. We can’t wait to welcome you to the Wolf Pack.
Take care, Mary T.
