Graduating Student Ambassador

Students in our College who volunteer in their sophomore or junior years to become student ambassadors are trained to help new and prospective students personalize their experiences in our College. Ambassadors learn leadership and communications skills, and train in all of our academic programs to provide expertise about what our College has to offer. They conduct tours, visit high schools, help with events for parents and students, and serve on an advisory committee. They also recruit new students and mentor them. Once ambassadors earn their degrees, we honor them as graduating student ambassadors. Our College thanks them for their hard work, dedication and sacrifice, as they have made a difference for our College and our students.

Alexander Melchor is graduating with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry & molecular biology. He was born in Las Vegas and went to Las Vegas High School and the College of Southern Nevada. During his undergraduate years, Alexander was active in research and multiple volunteer activities. He volunteered at Big Brothers Big Sisters, helped the Student Outreach Clinic as a translator and was part of the College's Student Ambassador Program. He also served as the College senator for the 87th session of the Associated Students of the University of Nevada and worked as a mentor and tutor for college and high school students. Alexander's next step is entering his one-year biotechnology master's program in the fall, and he will then take a gap year before applying to medical and/or graduate school programs.
