Outstanding Senior

The Outstanding Senior Award recognizes graduating students who have excelled academically and have improved leadership in our College.

The Nutrition Department is honored to present Olivia Comin the 2020 Outstanding Dietetic Student Award for her academic excellence and engagement activities with other University students and in the local community. Olivia invested significant time in activities that served to enhance the nutritional health of students and others in the community. She was active teaching basic nutrition at the Student Health Center, helped students select healthy options at Pack Provisions, delivered lunches for Meals on Wheels and served as a mentor for incoming nutrition freshman at CABNRFit. Olivia loves to help and inspire others. She notes that she has always known that she wanted to enter a career that involved helping others on a personal level. She identified her career goal of becoming a dietitian in high school and has never deviated from this course. Olivia’s love for nutrition has grown throughout her academic career. Her dedication to and love for her academic pursuits are reflected in her exemplary academic record. "I quickly fell in love with all my classes and found fascination in learning about the delicate roles that nutrition plays in all parts of our health and bodies," she said. Oliva has been accepted to the University’s Dietetic Internship Program and will begin this program in the coming months. Her longtime goal of becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist will soon be realized. "My interests lie within cardiovascular disease and hypertension, and my goal is to walk alongside these individuals and provide the necessary support and encouragement to improve their health and happiness," she said. "It is a huge honor to accept this award, and I truly could not have done this without the never-ending love and support from my family and friends. Thank you, mom and dad!"
