Museum of People, Place, and Time

Discover what it means to be human

The University of Nevada, Reno Museum of People, Place, and Time explores what it means to be human through the lens of anthropology. Founded in 1980 and reimagined in 2025, the museum serves as a dynamic teaching and research center dedicated to the study of Nevada’s diverse communities and cultural heritage. Visitors can explore exhibitions featuring archaeological and ethnographic objects, as well as student-led research projects that illuminate the stories of the Great Basin and beyond. Through its collections, public programs, and the University’s Museum Studies minor, the museum fosters learning, dialogue, and discovery about the people, places, and histories that shape our shared world.

Museum location

The museum is located in Room 528 of the Ansari Building at the south end of campus.
