Nevada tribes continue to seek repatriation of ancestral remains
The University's Director of Indigenous Relations, Daphne Emm Hooper, and NAGPRA Liaison Rochanne Downs were featured in an article from The Nevada Independent about the state's efforts to repatriate ancestral remains.
Huber Basket Collection
This digital collection showcases some of the Indigenous baskets from the Museum's Lulu C. Huber Collection. Made by Indigenous weavers from roughly 1840 to 1930, the baskets are presented in 2D and 3D images. The collection includes baskets made by Tribes throughout the Great Basin, California and the Pacific Northwest. The digitization efforts were a collaborative project between the University Libraries, @Reality and Museum Studies students.
Virtual Museum of Native American Basketry
This virtual reality (VR) experience features over 100 baskets created by Indigenous weavers from over 25 Tribes, spanning the Great Basin and extending into California, Oregon, Nevada and other western states. Features include digital baskets, immersive dioramas and explanations of Indigenous basketry materials, techniques and styles. This was a multi-faceted collaborative project in partnership with the University Libraries, local Tribes and regional museums.
