Faculty teaching and learning community
A year-long faculty learning community that supports deeper exploration of teaching and learning. Participants engage with evidence-based practices, reflect on their teaching, and build meaningful connections with colleagues across campus. Featured faculty guests throughout the year share how they apply key teaching principles in their own courses, helping participants connect research on teaching and learning with practice across disciplinary contexts.
Pack Mindset faculty community of practice
Pack Mindset is a faculty community of practice focused on improving student success through evidence-based teaching. Adapted from the Student Experience Project, Pack Mindset supports instructors in using research on belonging, growth mindset, and effective feedback to create learning environments where students are more likely to persist, engage, and succeed. Faculty participants explore practical teaching strategies, examine student experience data, and learn with colleagues as they make and reflect on small, meaningful changes in their courses. Initially developed with the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Pack Mindset is expanding to additional disciplines and programs.
AI guides
AI Guides are faculty that support the University in developing informed, discipline-conscious approaches to artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. Participants develop an AI-aware approach to teaching, explore implications for their disciplines and courses, and collaborate with colleagues to create resources, examples, and guidance that support faculty across the university. The program emphasizes both leadership and practical application, helping participants contribute to campus conversations about teaching and AI.
Alternative grading and assessment
This four-week program invites faculty to explore approaches to grading and assessment that promote learning, meaningful feedback, and student engagement. Through shared reading, discussions with colleagues, and featured guest speakers, participants will examine the evidence behind alternative grading practices and consider how assessment can better support learning and student success in their own teaching contexts.

Applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
This four-week asynchronous online course is designed to introduce the principles and practices of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a framework for designing inclusive and effective learning experiences. This course is cohort-based, starting on October 1, 2024 and ends on October 31, 2024. Participants will explore the foundations of UDL, its three core principles, practical strategies for implementing UDL in your courses, and will leave with a solid understanding of UDL and a toolkit of strategies to enhance your teaching practice.
Teaching portfolio workshop
Designed for faculty preparing a teaching portfolio as part of third-year review or promotion application, this interactive session provides guidance on documenting, organizing, and communicating teaching effectiveness. Participants reflect on their own teaching and receive advice on developing a clear and compelling portfolio. This workshop is typically offered in December and May.
