Summary
Kaden Quintal is majoring in Neuroscience and Biochemistry. He is currently taking upper-level neuroscience courses. He is working with Dr. Grant Mastick from the Biology department studying the Slit axon guidance cue and its Robo receptors, particularly with respect to innervation of adipose tissue. He has analyzed nerve branching within adipose in robo and slit mutants and is carrying out experiments mapping capillaries in relation to nerves. He expects to continue to focus on adipose innervation during his MARC award. He is participating in outreach efforts to address rural STEM teacher shortages.
