Summary

Angela Wang is in her second year at the University, pursuing a Bachelor's in Microbiology and Immunology, with minors in biochemistry and music. Her studies emphasize chemistry, biochemistry, and music theory. Angela currently conducts research in Dr. Yftah Tal-Gan’s laboratory, mentored by graduate student Clay Renshaw. Her research primarily focuses on utilizing chemical biology approaches to investigate peptide-based quorum-sensing systems in Streptococci. The goal would lead to discovering potential candidates for therapeutic alternatives to antibiotics. After her mentor graduates this year, Angela plans to lead her own project, developing and screening a second generation of peptide analogs as potential therapeutics to treat infectious diseases caused by Streptococcus sinensis.
