University of Nevada, Reno Creative Writing MFA Alum, poet Erik Manuel Soto has published 'Inside the Umber Iris'

Creative Writing MFA Alum, poet Erik Manuel Soto ( MFA '23) will publish his first book, Inside the Umber Iris, in Fall 2025. Soto has published poetry in many top literary journals, including Volt, Huizache, and the Sonora Review. Inside the Umber Iris is now available for preorder at all bookstores, and Soto will launch the book in Los Angeles on Oct. 12, at The Village Well book in Culver City.

"Inside the Umber Iris" is a collection of poems that traverses the realm of the subconscious and mythology. Tying a lyrical and surrealist style with themes of generational trauma and folkloric genealogy to create an odyssey of high emotional stakes. Pain and passion are continuously guiding each stanza to showcase not only the speaker's internal conflict, but how the surrounding world is perceived under this surrealist lens.

The collection is available for pre-order now at Barnes and Noble.
